Abadal Wineries

Abadal is the synthesis between a land recovered from the Bages wine tradition (the ancient settlers already named it paying tribute to the Roman god of wine, Bacus), the modernity of its people and the innovative will of a young and enterprising team at the service of a single goal: to make wines whose quality is a symbol of distinction, and with one goal: to make wines with their own character.

The Bages region is located in the center of Catalonia, about 70 km. away from both the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees, with irregular terrain that often requires cultivation on terraces, clay-textured soils with a large presence of limestone, little rainfall and a microclimate full of contrasts; In short, an area especially suitable for the cultivation of grapes as witnessed by the peculiar vineyard barracks, dry stone buildings that can easily be found among forests and vineyards. And the 127 hectares of Masies d'Avinyó vineyards are surrounded by another 150 hectares of holm oak and oak forests, in which bushes of aromatic herbs such as thyme, rosemary or oregano grow, and, always, look from wherever you look, with views towards the Montserrat mountain range.

In the summer of 2006, Abadal inaugurated new facilities to welcome wine lovers, consisting mainly of an interesting wine museum (with barrels and instruments that are more than 300 years old), an exhibition room (transport and vehicles that have been involved in winemaking since the Middle Ages) and a new air-conditioned tasting room: a project with which the winery aims to publicize a region away from the most common wine tourism circuits but, even so, of great interest and natural beauty.
